September 9, 2018 (Sunday 1pm-3:30pm) – VENUS ENTERS SCORPIO WORKSHOP: Deep Examination of Relationships, Sexuality & Self-Worth @ Yess Yoga – Minneapolis, MN

VENUS ENTERS SCORPIO WORKSHOP: Deep Examination of Relationships, Sexuality & Self-Worth

Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Yess Yoga| 1–3:30pm | $55

Transiting Venus enters Scorpio on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Venus will remain in this sign of deep, honest, relentless examination of our relationships, power dynamics, sexuality and our sense of self-worth until January 7, 2019. During this span of time, Venus will go retrograde once and move back into Libra for about a month. Libra’s evolutionary aim in a nutshell is inner peace and equilibrium. Sometimes, we must engage in the Scorpionic process of plumbing our depths and dancing boldly with our Shadows in order to win the Libran peace.

Join Evolutionary Astrologer, Jessa Walters, for a deep dive into Venus in Scorpio on the very day this transit begins. Our time together will include weaving together astrological information, exploratory embodiment of these Venusian energies through organic movement to music, time for individual reflection and gathering as a circle to claim our individual, high-potential, Scorpionic declarations for this powerful transit.

When Venus enters Scorpio, it is time to probe deeply, to seek only truth, even if it is desperately uncomfortable. It is a time of breaking taboo, allowing everything onto the table, no parts left out. When we work with this transit consciously, Venus in Scorpio supports us in cultivating deeper, more transparent and empowered relationship with ourselves, others and with the strong (and often taboo) energies that are part of being human. This workshop is for those who identify as womxn.

Space is limited. Registration now open.

August 27–October 8, 2018 (Monday Nights - no mtg on 9/17) – MARS: 6-week Womxn's Astrological Series (FULL)

MARS: HEARTS ABLAZE

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” –Anais Nin

Mars – Raw Fire of Life.
Primal Eros.
The function within us which fuels our Will to Survive – in body, mind and spirit. Our Will to Thrive through passion, fierceness and valor.
Mars is the Warrior within.

In our birth charts, Mars lets us know where our souls crave the heat of risk, the life-giving thrill of adventure, where we must passionately engage with Life in order to have a healthy sense of gusto in our day to day. We discover through Mars where boundaries are needed. Becoming a warrior in the face of fear is the high path of Mars. Building courage is the evolutionary aim.

With Mars being the classical ruler of Scorpio, and the solo ruler of Aries, we explore both faces of this planet of desire – both of which are inextricably linked to our sexuality. In this vein, we will also take a look at the Cycle of Sex, which is represented in the birth chart by the relationship between Mars and Venus.
We will examine where Mars is transiting each womxn’s individual chart and discuss how to consciously work with that fiery stimulus in ways of benefit rather than destruction. Transits are catalysts for development and growth. Transiting Mars calls us to decisive action. We must take the initiative and claim what is ours.

Each week, we will have structured time for check-in/sharing. During our first evening together, I will give a talk on Mars. During most of this series, transiting Mars will be Out of Bounds. I will touch upon what that means and how we can constructively work with that energy. In weeks 2–5, we will dive into individual chart analysis and discussion. Our last evening together will culminate in a Courage-Building Ritual.

THIS SERIES IS NOW FULL. Please contact Jessa to be added to the waiting list.

August 30–October 11, 2018 (Thursday Nights) – URANUS: 6-week Womxn's Astrological Series (FULL)

URANUS: To Thine Own Self Be True

THIS SERIES IS NOW FULL. Please contact Jessa to be added to the waiting list.

Thursdays, August 30–October 11, 2018 (no meeting on Thurs, Sept 20)
in Uptown Minneapolis

7pm–9/9:30pm (end time between 9-9:30pm)
“Wake up

Life is transient

Swiftly passing

Be aware

The great matter

Don’t waste time”

–These words are carved into the wooden gong at Tassajara Zen Center in Carmel Valley, California.

Throughout our evolution as human beings, our survival has often depended upon having membership in a group, a clan. Banding together. How many of you have heard the saying, “There’s strength in numbers”? However, sometimes group membership can come at the expense of our souls, our individuality, our own unique, authentic unfolding.

Uranus is the function within our psyches that is willing to risk losing our membership in the group in order to be true to our own path. Hence, the Uranian archetype of the Outsider or the Exile can at times be felt during the individuation process, as can the archetypes of the Rebel or Revolutionary if we come up against forces of suppression. Uranus is the part of us that is willing to think and act outside of the box, break the “rules” and truly march to the beat of our own drum, come what may.

In this series, we explore the various dimensions of Uranian energy and the ways in which each of us must liberate ourselves from social conditioning that inhibits our authentic embodiment and expression. Through individual birth chart analysis, we examine how/in what aspects of life each of our souls longs to delve into the process of individuation in this lifetime.

Each week, we will have structured time for check-in/sharing. During our first evening together, I will give a talk on Uranus, in which I will illuminate several Uranian icons to invoke Uranus’ “break the rules,” “to thine own self be true” energy. I will also touch upon the Uranian cycle of 84 years (paralleling an average human life cycle) and its square/opposition points (at approx age 21, 42 and 63), which are often poignant periods of time in a person’s life. In weeks 2–5, we will dive into individual chart analysis and discussion. Our last evening together will culminate in a truly one-of-a-kind Uranian ritual.

In the words of two Uranian icons:

“’When I meet a woman who attracts me, I prefer women,’ she said. ‘And when I meet a man who attracts me, I prefer men.’
‘You mean you haven’t made up your mind yet.’
‘I mean exactly what I said. I told you you wouldn’t like it. Most people who ask want me definitely on one side or the other.’”
–Octavia Butler from her book “Patternmaster”

“I will not have my life narrowed down. I will not bow down to somebody else’s whim or to someone else’s ignorance.”
–bell hooks

Fee for the 6–week series: $250
(which breaks down to approx $40/session)

All who participate will receive a copy of each womxn’s birth chart who is in the group, so we can reference and learn from each others’ charts, as well as our own.
October 6, 2018 (Sat 1:30–4:30pm) – CREATING SAFE SPACE: Trauma & Yoga @ Sun Moon Yoga – Mankato, MN

Creating Safe Space: Trauma & Yoga

at Sun Moon Yoga in Mankato, Minnesota

1:30–4:30pm

Facilitated by Jessa Walters, MA, E-RYT, TCTSY-F, this workshop is designed for yoga teachers and yoga teachers-in-training who are interested in integrating trauma awareness into their teaching. This workshop is also open to clinicians who wish to bring embodiment into their work with clients.

Participants will learn key practical components to guiding yoga/embodiment practices with trauma awareness, including the use of language, the importance of interoception and the facilitator qualities needed to create a trauma-sensitive experience. We will explore the dynamics inherent in trauma and how to guide in a way that does not perpetuate the trauma paradigm, but rather offers the opportunity for choice, present moment experience, empowerment and authentic connection. This workshop will include presentation, discussion and experiential practice.

Jessa Walters has completed the 300-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F) certification with David Emerson through the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute based in Boston. Jessa began teaching TCTSY in 2013 as part of a study through the University of Minnesota, in partnership with the Domestic Abuse Project, researching TCTSY as a viable clinical treatment for trauma. Jessa has primarily worked with women who have experienced domestic abuse, women in recovery and kids.

October 6, 2018 (Sat 6:30–8:30pm) – Womxn's Moon Medicine, Moon in VIRGO @ Sun Moon Yoga – Mankato, MN

WOMXN’S MOON MEDICINE:
MOON IN VIRGO, ELEMENT OF EARTH

Saturday, October 6, 2018 • 6:30–8:30pm

Location: Sun Moon Yoga in Mankato, Minnesota

Virgo has long been associated with the archetype of the Virgin.

In this evening’s Moon Medicine, we explore the original, pre-patriarchal meaning of Virgin: A womxn WHOLE UNTO HERSELF. A womxn who is free in body, mind and spirit, possessed by nothing, belonging fully to herself. A High Priestess, devoted to her sacred, earthy work, a path of meaningful service and joy through which she can continue to grow and evolve. The goal is wholeness, rather than perfection.

We explore the embodiment of this rich Virgo energy through freestyle dance (organic movement to music), particularly honoring the music of womxn artists who have stayed true to themselves in their self-expression. After the embodiment, we will circle for a time of reflection and sharing. There will be an altar in the center of our circle with candles, essential oils, crystals, oracle/tarot cards and books of a Virgoan nature for you to engage with if you wish. You are welcome to bring an item for the altar that has meaning for you, if you’d like. You may take whatever you bring back home with you at the end of the evening. Please wear comfortable clothing in which you can move freely.
